To all AEC members: It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that AEC founder and Chairman, Victor Bennett, will be stepping down as Chairman.
Victor let the AEC board know of his intention to step down some time ago, stating a desire to focus on himself, his family and other projects. He granted the board time to transition, and we thank him for that.
As one of the founders and an active participant in AEC for the past 7 years, Victor has played a vital role in the fight against discrimination, and specifically discrimination against people of African descent. We thank him for his passion and willingness to share his time, energy, and knowledge with so many of us. 7 years is a long time and a bit of rest is well deserved. The new board can only hope to live up to the same level of passion and engagement Victor has shown over the years.
Over the next few days, you will have the opportunity to get to know the new board of AEC. However, for now, we will give everyone some time to hear the news, reflect on the past 7 years under Victor’s leadership and get ready to hear, what Victor himself has dubbed, AEC 2.0.
